Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a software engineer to develop performance monitoring solutions. Our mission supports the Government Corporate Management Services (CMS) by providing full life cycle support services through the sustainment, modernization, and transformation of the enterprise corporate applications. - Work with the Defense Civilian Payroll System (DCPS) software developed by the Defense Finance Accounting Service
- Collaborate within an integrated team encompassing strategic, program, engineering, financial, and acquisition management to deliver and operate complex defense systems
- Utilize IBM Mainframe development tools for software development processes, including requirements analysis, software design, implementation, testing, integration, deployment/installation, and maintenance
- Use IDMS, SQL, COBOL, DB2, REXX, and FOCUS to enhance and optimize the performance of defense systems
- Contribute to the improvement and refinement of software development processes and methodologies
- Provide support for troubleshooting, issue resolution, and system maintenance as needed
- Participate in cross-functional discussions and meetings to align software development efforts with project goals
Required Qualifications:
- TS/SCI with Polygraph
- A bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and six (6) years of experience in software development/engineering. Ten (10) years of experience in software development/engineering may be substituted in lieu of a degree
- Willingness to learn new technologies
- A strong understanding and experience in the software development process of gathering requirements, software design, implementation, testing, deployment, and integration
- Experience developing and updating technical documentation
- Must be willing/able to work between the core hours of 10:00AM – 2:00PM. Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis
Desired Qualifications:
- Programming skills with experience in languages such as COBOL, REXX, and familiarity with IBM Mainframe development tools
- Knowledge and experience in database systems, particularly in IDMS, SQL, and DB2
- Experience with additional tools such as FOCUS for data management, analysis, and reporting would be considered advantageous
