Geospatial Database Engineer

St. Louis, MO

Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a skilled and experienced Geospatial Database Engineer to join our team in the (St. Louis, MO or Washington-Maryland Area) and contribute to the analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance of high-volume geospatial databases. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing technical expertise to support large user communities, addressing complex issues related to backup/recovery, information life cycle management, and disaster recovery.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer, monitor, and maintain geospatial databases to ensure optimal performance and reliability
  • Perform routine database tasks, including backups/restores, replication/mirroring setups, and maintenance of Enterprise Geodatabases
  • Support Data Store products (Spatiotemporal, Relational) and restart/reconfigure components as necessary
  • Provide critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to address complex issues in the geospatial database environment
  • Contribute to the resolution of architectural issues in both the overall environment and database infrastructure
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the database architecture and application functionality
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support large enterprise initiatives
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure the geospatial databases meet organizational needs

Required Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 8 years’ of proven experience in the analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance of high-volume geospatial databases
  • Strong expertise in database administration of managed databases, performance tuning, and disaster recovery
  • Experience with Enterprise Geodatabases and Data Store products (Spatiotemporal, Relational)
  • Ability to support large enterprise initiatives and resolve architectural issues

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field
  • Certifications in database administration or geospatial technologies
  • Knowledge of geospatial data standards and protocols
  • Experience in supporting replication/mirroring setups for geospatial databases
