The interns we bring on board are second to none. And it’s about time they get a little attention. We’ll be featuring current (and past) Freedom Consulting Group interns, giving them a voice to express what they’ve learned, any advice they have for future interns and something offbeat—like their favorite late-night snack, or what’s on their DVR.

Intern Hunter

Hunter’s piece of advice to his childhood self is simple: “buy bitcoins.” A Weifang, China native, Hunter prefers Han Solo and Chewbacca over Spock and Kirk, and took a real liking to calculus while in school. His personal hero? Zhang He, the Chinese military general. We asked Hunter for something he found interesting, and boy did he deliver. Haven’t heard of the Fermi Paradox? Us either. How have you seen yourself grow personally (or professionally) as a result of your time interning?

I’ve improved on many life skills, like managing time better, setting clearer goals and communicating more effectively. Interning at Freedom Consulting Group has also immensely increased my technical aptitude. I’ve learned numerous new tools and technologies, including Spring and PostgreSQL, as well as built on my foundations, like improving Java and SQL knowledge. It’s given me a wonderful start to the working world.

Describe your favorite experience as an FCG intern.

Meeting all the great people here, learning from their experiences and taking in their insights—from Army stories to technical tricks.

What new tricks/tips have you learned since your first day as an intern?

I’ve learned how to diagnose malfunctioning beeps on motherboards, how to write stored procedures and to buckle up while in Scott’s car.

What advice would you give another FCG intern?

Knowledge is power. Learn as much as you can, especially from people who know more.
