In the Garage with Dana
An inside glimpse into the garages, storage rooms, attics, or sheds of our executives at Freedom Consulting Group, the “In the Garage Series” searches around for the odd, interesting, and downright funny objects taking up residency in our leadership team’s homes.
Name: Dana Gift
Object: 2 cars, 7 snow shovels, lawn chairs, and more
The Tale: There’s not a whole lot of interesting stuff in my garage. It’s basically the same stuff as everyone else – lawnmower, tools, various half-empty bottles, and bags of fertilizer and weed killer. But what makes my garage different? Well, for one thing, I have a two-and-a-half car garage that actually has two cars in it!
I know many people with garages that hold everything else EXCEPT their car. I lived in a townhouse for many years when I was a government employee, another townhouse with street parking only, and I never had a garage growing up. I got wet when it rained, I had to scrape frost from my windshield when it was cold, and I had to dig my car out when it snowed. I vowed that when I was able to finally have a garage, I was actually going to use it to hold cars – no matter what! It may not seem like a big deal to most, but it’s something I remember and greatly appreciate.
Of course, anyone who knows me knows I’m a fairly organized person (hopefully a good trait for FCG’s CEO/CFO), and a photo of my garage reflects that quality. Who doesn’t like an organized garage, right? Hung on the side wall is my collection of snow shovels and lawn chairs – different shapes and styles for different needs (or so they say). Why do I have seven snow shovels? Well, that’s a story for another day.
