On January 8th, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas kicked off to give us a preview into this year’s newest and greatest gadgets.

This annual event is hosted by the Consumer Technology Association, which is a trade organization representing over 2000 consumer technology companies in the U.S. and lays ground for what technology we have to look forward to making life just that much easier for the year.

Some of the main topics covered at this year’s CES ranged from pocket devices such as foldable smartphones to WISA (get ready to be done with wires in your home theater sound system), here were some of the major takeaways from CES 2019:

  • Wearable Devices for Health: The best health trackers and other wearable devices that assist in keeping you on track with your health were front and center again this year. From a smart belt that tracks any unwanted waist changes (we don’t recommend wearing after the holidays) to the ultimate helmet for biking, you can find any gadget to improve your success rate on that New Year’s resolution.
  • Smart Cities and 5G: Our major cities will soon be getting an upgrade on connectivity and speed. The future of our urban areas will be based on an open cloud network; be sure to keep an eye out for the Mobile World Congress expo later this year to get the details on the 5G invasion!
  • AI Driving: Cars are still in the forefront of the technology sphere. While there were no major updates or announcements that took the world by storm, using AI to pilot our vehicles while we relax and read the news is still at the top of everyone’s list for future tech.

  • 8k Ultra HD and other Cool Display Devices: Forget about 4k, here’s to the future with 8k! Most people will not have this tech for another 5 years but for those who like to stay ahead of the game, there are 8k Ultra High Definition TV’s now available for preorder such as this Samsung one for $4,999.99. If you haven’t heard about The Wall, lets just say this takes your viewing pleasure to the next level. It’s a massive behemoth of a screen created by Samsung to ensure that you can watch your favorite program at an amazing 219 inch size. And the smaller 146 inch is now available for purchase if you have $100k to drop on it.

A few other notables that were not major themes but are sure to shake things up:

  • Impossible Burger 2.0: For the burger lovers, you can thank the foodie engineers at Impossible for finally perfecting a juicy beef replica without the associated fossil fuels. This lab engineered beef replacement is created with the molecule heme in its formula, which is what lends our delicious filets its distinctive flavor that we love.
  • For audiophiles like ourselves, we found these awesome record players to enhance your listening experience.
