FCG April Collage of Fun

April was a busy month here at FCG with some amazing activities and events happening in its last full week. Here’s a wrap up of our spring session of fun.

Bring Your Child to Work Day

Last week on Thursday we heard the sounds of kids and learning in the office as FCG hosted its annual Bring Your Child to Work Day event during lunch. Our employees are welcome every year to attend and bring their little ones to the corporate office for STEM-based activities and lunch to help explain some of what parents do when they are at work here at the company.

Reagan knows how to build a PBJ programmer style.
Reagan had the best instructions for creating a PBJ in our computer logic exercise.

We started our day with an intro to programming, via the build a PBJ challenge, then played a field game created by our staff that simulated what it’s like to live through building and launching a program as a developer (including the BSOD experience) and how to floss your way to the finish.

Smash Bros Epic Extravaganza at Game Night

Later that day, we geared up for Geeks Unite Video Game Night which included an epic tournament battle in Super Smash Bros and other awesome games to try out. Our crowned king of the hill for our FCG SSB tourney was no other than the amazing Ian K, who crushed competition during the battle. He will hold this title until FCG’s next tournament night in the near future.

Running to the top at the AFCEA 5k

Crushing competition was still in order this past Saturday at the AFCEA Central Maryland Race for Excellence  5K & Family Fun Run/Walk that took place here in Columbia. FCG participates as a sponsor in this race every year and this year our team was set on taking home the gold.

David, Jocelyn, and Jason were on point taking home medals for their age categories in the race (David and Jocelyn ranked 1st place, Jason ranked 3rd place).

And in the Fun Run portion, Mason took 3rd place!
