Network Engineer

Chantilly, VA

Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a Network Engineer to provide Sponsor Support located in WMA. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, independent worker who can also work in and contribute to a team environment. The Sponsor requires the contractor to deliver tradecraft guidance and technical and network solutions to meet the Sponsor’s online operational objectives.

  • Networks, to include ability to understand network architecture diagrams, and related information
  • Configuring and using Virtual Private Servers, Virtual Private Networks, and Virtual Private Clouds
  • Virtual environments and emulated mobile devices
  • Android O/S to include an understanding of how the operating system works and its security settings
  • Domestic and foreign social media and security implications associated with utilizing social media sites
  • Commercial messaging applications and their security configurations
  • Performing technical analysis on networks and applications to evaluate security and applicability to online operations
  • Browser security settings and add-ins
  • Technical troubleshooting related to networks, hardware, internet services, and mobile applications
  • Defining, analyzing, tracking, and reviewing requirements
  • Consulting with customers to determine present and future user requirements
  • Communicating complex technical topics to non-technical individuals
  • Working within commercial cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar)
  • Utilizing network monitoring tools
  • Understanding of network fundamentals, TCP/IP routing, switching, firewalls and VPNs, Ethernet, DS1, T1, routing concepts and routing protocols, HSRP, VRRP, DHCP, switching, 802.1Q, STP, VLANs, EtherChannel, IP Addressing, Subnetting and VPN
  • Cloud networking concepts
  • Utilizing Tor as a means of obfuscating online activities
  • Internet encryption protocols
  • Degree or educational background in computer science, information science, systems engineering, or a related discipline
  • The Contractor Team shall keep current with internet technologies and services and understand their applicability and security implications for the Sponsor’s operations
  • The Contractor Team shall research, develop, maintain, and document tradecraft and tools associated with the Sponsor’s online operations
  • The Contractor Team shall conduct and provide quick-turn security and product assessments for new technologies utilized on the Sponsor’s network

Required:

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • Degree in information technology or demonstrated work experience in an information technology position
  • Experience with networks, including ability to understand network architecture diagrams, and related information
  • Configuring and using Virtual Private Servers (VPS), Virtual Private Networks (VPN), and Virtual Private Clouds (VPC)
  • Experience with virtual environments and emulated mobile devices
  • Experience with Android OS, to include an understanding of how the OS works and its security settings
  • Experience with foreign and domestic social media and security implications associated with utilizing social media sites
  • Experience with commercial messaging applications and their security configurations
  • Performing technical analysis on networks and applications to evaluate security and applicability to online operations
  • Experience with browser security settings and add-ins
  • Experience with technical troubleshooting related to networks, hardware, internet services, and mobile applications
  • Defining, analyzing, tracking, and reviewing requirements
